About

Dr Christina Kolaiti is a senior lecturer in photography at York St John University who received her doctorate in practice-led research from Northumbria University. Her research specialises in the integration of psychoanalytic theory in the practice of photography, expanding the complex dynamics of photographic portraiture as a form of reflective practice.

She is a visual artist whose research activities have positioned the reflective properties of visual narrative within a diverse range of curatorial, scientific, and pedagogical contexts. For two decades her practice has converged the fields of arts and healthcare through interdisciplinary collaborations with healthcare institutions and has been recognised ‘for an outstanding contribution to the art and science of photography’.
